HELPING YOU LIVE LIFE MORE BEAUTIFULLYHeadingThe World’s First and Only Hybrid Fractional Laser (HFL)
HALO® is the world’s first and only tunable hybrid fractional laser, combining beneficial wavelengths in a single pass at customizable (tunable) settings to control downtime. HALO® gives you the results you want without the downtime you would expect. Dr. Quenby Erickson, a board-certified dermatologist, has acquired extensive experience and expertise as a legacy provider of HALO® in Chicago.

The First to Offer HALO®

Erickson Cosmetic Dermatology & Lifestyle Medicine was the first in the country to offer the HALO® treatment, the first and only hybrid fractional laser, applying tunable non-ablative and ablative wavelengths in a single pass to maximize results and reduce downtime.

Why HALO®?

“Patients want great results from their anti-aging treatments, but they don’t have time for downtime. HALO® is capable of removing years of sun damage and wrinkles in the deeper layers of the skin, but with minimal downtime. So, our patients can have their cake and eat it too; great results with little to no downtime. This technology has revolutionized laser resurfacing for wrinkles, pore size, and UV damage,” says Dr. Erickson.

How Is HALO® Different?

The success of laser treatments in improving the appearance of scars, wrinkles, and texture anomalies arises from a natural healing response from the patient’s body. This response is triggered when the surface and subdermal layers of skin are exposed to laser energy.

Previously available laser treatments involved periods of acute healing. Many were not appropriate for numerous skin types or could not achieve desired results without a minimum of several treatment sessions.

The unique combination of ablative and non-ablative laser energy provides the benefits of two types of laser technology. This allows the treatment provider to adjust the laser device in real-time in order to address specific types of skin issues.

What Is Recovery Like After Treatment?

On average, the recovery time for healing after HALO® is approximately five to seven days. During the healing period, some redness and swelling are expected for a few days. Newly emerging skin is vulnerable and should be protected from the sun and other pollutants.

Complete aftercare instructions and recommendations for speeding up healing will be provided by Dr. Erickson. Patients will benefit from avoiding alcohol and smoking during recovery.

What to Expect During Your HALO® Treatment

Your treatment will be performed in one of the relaxing, private treatment rooms at Dr. Erickson’s medical practice, which is conveniently located on the Mag Mile across the street from Water Tower Place.

Before starting treatment, a topical anesthetic cream will be applied and given time to take effect. Once the treatment areas have been numbed, the excess cream will be removed, and the skin will be disinfected.

Next, a nurse specifically and extensively trained by Dr. Erickson will begin performing the laser treatment. HALO® treatments are typically well-tolerated by patients with the use of topical numbing and the Zimmer Cooler. However, Pro-Nox™ and oral pain medicine can also be provided for additional comfort.

What to Expect

Good Candidates

Among the many benefits of HALO® is its safe use across the range of light to dark skin tones. For patients who are considering laser treatments for enlarged pores, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, and fine lines but are concerned about extended downtime, HALO® may be the ideal solution.

Consultation

A HALO® consultation with Dr. Erickson is necessary before treatment. The patient will first discuss their treatment goals with Dr. Erickson. The doctor will examine the patient’s skin and then review their medical history, including pre-existing conditions, to ensure that the treatment is appropriate to achieve results safely.

Cost

The cost of HALO® varies and is determined by each patient’s customized plan. Dr. Erickson will develop each patient’s individualized plan during their consultation and will discuss price information. CareCredit is available for patients who are interested in financing options for their HALO® treatment.
