PPP (Pearly Penile Papules)

HELPING YOU LIVE LIFE MORE BEAUTIFULLYHeadingPPP (pearly penile papules) removal is a non-invasive treatment to remove small, dome-shaped bumps around the corona of the penis. These bumps are non-sexually transmitted and have nothing to do with personal hygiene. PPP is very common for men of all ages. However, they typically first appear during puberty. While these bumps are harmless, many men opt to have them removed for cosmetic reasons as their presence is often embarrassing and can cause significant emotional distress. PPP removal in Chicago is performed by board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Quenby Erickson, in her state-of-the-art medical facility located on North Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago. Dr. Erickson is not only sought out by local men for this treatment, she also treats national and international clients.

“I wanted to reach out to say thank you! The results are much better than expected! My only regret is not getting it done sooner. I can’t thank you enough for how professional and kind you were during the entire process. It was probably one of the more awkward experiences I’ve ever had in my life, but you made it as comfortable as possible, and were incredible throughout the entire process.”

What Is PPP Removal?

Also known as pearly penile papule removal, this outpatient technique uses an ablative laser to vaporize the papules. The laser itself has a beam the size of a pencil tip, which allows for precise targeting of each papule for effective removal.

What to Expect During Your PPP Treatment

PPP removal is performed by Dr. Erickson at her downtown Chicago medical practice. Patients can expect to be in the office for about an hour for the initial consultation and same-day treatment.

There is no discomfort during the procedure due to the no-needle anesthesia that is provided. After the area is fully numb, Dr. Erickson will use a laser to target each penile papule, essentially vaporizing them away.

Most treatment sessions will last less than 30 minutes. However, the exact time it takes will vary depending on the number of penile papules to be treated.

What to Expect After a PPP Treatment

Since this treatment creates superficial wounds, the area will be raw and will require wound care with Vaseline for several days to avoid scabbing as the site heals. Tylenol is recommended to ease symptoms of mild post-treatment discomfort. Most men report complete healing within 7 to 10 days after treatment.

It’s imperative that you refrain from any sexual activity during laser PPP removal recovery. The penile skin needs to completely heal to ensure successful results.

There are no travel restrictions after PPP removal, so men who travel from outside the Chicago area do not need to plan to stay locally post-treatment. Patients often fly home the same day as their PPP removal procedure.

Patients typically achieve their desired results with a single treatment. However, if the papules are more severe, additional treatments may be needed to completely remove them.
