What is a DO?

Dr. Erickson is a DO, which means Doctor of Osteopathy.

Osteopathic physicians (DOs) are licensed to practice medicine in the United States by the same licensing boards which license MD’s in each state.

A DO is similar to an MD, but DOs practice medicine with a “whole person” approach, believing in the communication of the mind, body, and spirit. Instead of just treating you for specific symptoms or illnesses, they regard you and your body as an integrated whole.

Osteopathic physicians also receive additional training in muscular and skeletal assessment and adjustment.
