Labiaplasty is a specialized surgical procedure designed to address aesthetic concerns related to the labia. At Erickson Cosmetic Dermatology & Lifestyle Medicine, labiaplasty procedures are performed by board-certified dermatologist Dr. Quenby Erickson. Dr. Erickson is a top provider of labiaplasty in Chicago who has helped countless women improve their quality of life and achieve their cosmetic goals with this procedure.

What Is Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that changes the shape and size of the labia to resolve functional and aesthetic concerns. Dr. Erickson is skilled and experienced in labiaplasty techniques and customizes each woman’s procedure to her unique anatomy and desired results.

Who Is a Candidate for Labiaplasty?

If you experience discomfort during physical activities, irritation while wearing tight clothing, or self-consciousness due to the size or shape of your labia, you may be a candidate for labiaplasty. Candidates must be in good overall health and have realistic expectations about the outcome of the surgery.

Dr. Erickson can determine your candidacy for labiaplasty during your initial consultation. At this appointment, she will perform a physical examination, review your medical history, have a candid conversation with you about your concerns and treatment goals, and answer any questions you may have.

What to Expect During a Labiaplasty Procedure

Labiaplasty is an outpatient procedure that begins with the administration of topical and local anesthesia. During your labiaplasty procedure, Dr. Erickson will carefully remove unwanted tissue and reshape the labia to achieve your functional and cosmetic goals. Total surgery time varies based on the complexity of the patient’s procedure but is usually about one to two hours.

What to Expect During Labiaplasty Recovery

You will be able to go home the same day as your surgery. The procedure is associated with minimal discomfort during recovery, for which Tylenol is typically sufficient. Icing, especially during the first 24 hours, is very beneficial to reduce swelling and discomfort. You may be able to return to all normal activities in one to two weeks.

Dr. Erickson will provide detailed post-operative instructions to guide you through your recovery and promote expedient healing. Following her instructions regarding how to care for the treatment site, physical activity restrictions, and abstinence from sexual intercourse is crucial for a smooth recovery and optimal results.

Benefits of Labiaplasty

  • Natural-looking cosmetic enhancement
  • Reduces discomfort during physical activities
  • Boosts self-confidence and comfort in intimate situations
  • Provides a more balanced and symmetrical look
  • Long-lasting results

How Much Does Labiaplasty Cost?

The cost of labiaplasty varies depending on the patient’s unique needs and goals. The surgical techniques required, total surgery time, and applicable anesthesia and facility fees will affect the overall cost. The price of your labiaplasty procedure will be reviewed with you during your consultation.
